JOY of Love|Spend times with

Mark loves his boy.  Besides me, that is who he wants to spend every spare minute with.  These boys love their tools!

JOY of Love|When

you love them the most!  It is the little things.  This may seem silly, but to me, emptying out the vacuum is a big deal.  Having allergies, dumping this thing just makes me sneeze.  He also makes sure I have gas in the car, helps with dishes.  And in general will jump in to help when asked!

JOY of Love|Where

Where we met the one we love.  For me it was at BorderLine.  My girlfriends and I would go line dancing about once a week or so.  I had seen Mark there before.  On October 16, 1999 I was getting ready to leave, he was standing outside and said, "you leaving so early?"  Now, I don't typically "mouth" off to strangers, but for some reason I said, "well, you weren't inside to dance with".  We started chatting, and about 20 minutes later I had to stop him to ask his name!

We haven't stopped talking yet.

JOY of LOVE|Going Out

Friday night, date night!  Without the lil' mister, even.  Nice dinner, and because it was pouring walking inside the mall.  Not the most creative, but what you do when everything outside is a wet mess.

JOY of LOVE|Dreams

I probably voice my dreams more than anyone else in my family.  But my husband will once in a while talk about a car or truck he would buy if...this is his latest dream truck

JOY of LOVE|Where They are Comfortable

Dakota enjoys playing his daddy's ipod.  You can find him, with his favorite, legs crossed playing a variety of games.

JOY of LOVE|Passions and Hobbies

I saw this tutorial on  Rita's CoffeeShop blog about composites.  And the example was perfect for my son, his passion for Clone Wars!  So gave it a try...

JOY of LOVE|Gift From the Heart is an interesting challenge.  How to photograph, capture something, material or otherwise {though material would certainly be easier!} that was promised or a gift.  My thoughts immediately went to all that God has blessed us with.

Greatest gift I could photograph, for me, is my family.  Especially since it meant waiting 35 years for the right man to place that ring on my hand,  I captured my wedding ring and son's hand to emphasize that point.

JOY of LOVE|Generations

My son has loved baseball ever since he was able to put a glove on and pick up a bat, albeit a plastic one.  He would run the bases {meaning a path around the family room} as we watched games on tv and I was amazed when he slid, he never rammed into the entertainment center {that's is where home plate was, apparently}.

However, he had to be 5 to play T-ball, last year was his first year to play.  He was very excited, more so when his 'Poppy' {grandpa} and his daddy agreed to be his coach.  Our family grew up playing sports, my dad coached my brother's little league to now have him coach my son, brings back memories of snack bar duty, cold games huddled with blankets...

We still work the snack bar, but now it is donuts on early Saturday game days, and bubble gum and suckers after afternoon ones.  I know my mom never let us have THAT when we were kids.  LOL!!!!

Little league has started again, this is what it is all about...

JOY of LOVE|What They Love

This one was easy.  What they love...each other, immensely.  Mark loves his boy and is a tremendous father.  Even willing to be a sofa for watching old cartoons, a new favorite past-time.  They spend a lot of time playing, talking, reading, and sharing in activities they both have a interest in, woodworking, baseball and all things Star Wars.
Dakota loves his daddy.  He informed me today, after I asked for the upteenth time to stop growing up and to just be a little boy, that he could not "because then I won't be like my daddy".  How do you argue with that?

Willette's JOY OF LOVE|Ventura Photographer

This month I joined a monthly challenge JOY OF LOVE from Kelly Willette Designs.  I admit, I joined in a few days late and am now catching up on 5 days!  Here is the first...

Day 1|What They Do
My son and his LOVE for playing with Legos.  Besides the basics of life, this IS what he does.
Day 2|How They Look
Capturing true expressions.  Yep, pretty sure that is what we have here!

Day 3|Then and Now
I had a rough idea of how I wanted to photograph this one.  When I met my husband, he was ALL cowboy, starched Wranglers, shirts and a wide variety of hats and boots.  Over 10 years, clothing style has definitely seen some changes!  I shared with him what I wanted to do, and he came up with this idea himself.

Day 4|What They Wear
This is definitely one of my favorites!  I knew right away what this one would be.  My son has fallen in 'love' with Converse.  I have always thought they the ugliest, if not most uncomfortable shoes!  He has out worn several pair, and now has them in black and bright yellow (his most favorite color).  And because he has them, he pestered us to all match.  So, we do.  I must say, I actually really like them now!
 Day 5|Love to Hate
All caught up!  {whew}  I love my husband dearly.  Messes, not so much.  Actually both of them tend to leave them wherever they go...
