#2 in 'the human condition' series...

Thursday, November 29, 2012

I have been working on a personal project, I have loosely entitled ' the human condition'.  I was inspired to capture emotion (via subject and light), that which motivated me to learn this art form years ago.  Yet, the more learned, read and studied, the less I seemed to be capturing the emotion, so concerned was I about exposure or composition.  Don't get me wrong, that and MORE is of vital importance!!!

This undefined time limit project, has caused me to go beyond the knowledge and just capture the moment.

I hope you enjoy this process as much as I am!

*MIKAYLA* 2012 Senior {Ventura Photographer}

I had to post this one first, she was an incredible delight to work with!   We laughed, drove, endured bugs and grassy fields filled with....????  grateful we only stepped in a few holes.

This is a shot I have had in my mind ever since I saw her wear these shoes with this dress to church one Sunday.

DIY Projects cont.

I received my parent's dining room furniture, which they had since they were married.  I "shabby chic'd" it many years ago.  Now living in a house with white walls, makes we want to go bright and bold in colors, so I re-painted the faces of the cabinet doors of a piece I picked up over 15 years ago.  At some point I hope to find some chairs to re-upholster and paint in similar bold colors.

This is the bench my husband made out of a head and foot board.

This little treasure was my great aunt's sewing supply cabinet. I love this color!!  Add new hardware, now serves as our water cooler!

DIY Project!

One of the things that defines my relationship with my husband, is our love for projects.  And as we worked on this one, I was reminded of how many we have actually done!  He built a hall tree completely from looking at our existing one, he built a bench from head/foot boards, we re-finished a dining room table, chairs, and cabinet.  He builds, I paint.
One of the very few items not from a garage sale or thrift store is our bedroom furniture.  And of course, it is a matching set!  Having been inspired by the Nate Berkus Show, instead of purchasing new furniture, we re-painted!  My husband chose the color scheme, and over a period of weeks, we worked out what we wanted to, having this long weekend presented us with the opportunity to go to town!!  I must say, this was the most fun we have had in our projects!
May it inspire you to re-create, re-arrange, whatever you can do with what you already have.
